Camembert Box – Araka Nut Leaf

   Posted by: admin   in Cheese

Ok this is a bit premature but could not help putting it on the blog.ย  We are experimenting making our camembert boxes out of araka nut leaf which is local product and cheap and eco-friendly and all that.ย  Now are checking out whether it is cheese and fridge friendly ๐Ÿ™‚

The slight crack between top and bottom don’t matter as this cheese has to breathe.ย  Anyway it is packed inside in butter paper.

Nice looking packaging. Like the colors and the organic look of it. But the crack between the top and bottom might put off people. As consumers we want our bought food to look sterile.. yeah even the organic stuff… go figure! Its a visual thing I think.

How does it stand up to handling… in stores and the refrigerator? They will stack the cheese in stores and in storage I guess.

Right you are, Kiran, about the crack. Working on that. Planning to use a single cup but deeper with a stiff cardboard as bottom that will hug the lip of the cup. Being a natural material it is hard to control in terms of warp as it dries up. But it is a very hard material and can be stacked. No problem. We put it in our fridge for a couple of days and it stays ok. Anyway the shelf life of our camembert is only 10 days and always goes before that. Will post photo updates of new design. Thanks.

Where is the cheese sold? Only locally or can I find it in any other cities/countries as well?
